If you want to buy one of the classic cars for sale and you’re not sure what’s what, the best make to look for is a Pierce-Arrow. If the car was manufactured between 1925 and 1948 and it’s a Pierce-Arrow, it’s a classic. 38 other U.S. manufacturers turned out classic cars during that era, and many of them are for sale, but most of these manufacturers turned out many more vehicles that weren’t classics and it can be difficult to be sure. You don’t want to buy one of what you think are all classic cars for sale and then find out they’re not.

Here is a fairly complete list of the makes and models you can consider classics as you look for cars for sale.

If a car had air conditioning and it was made between 1925 and 1940, it’s a classic. If it’s an Alvis and a model Speed 20 or 25, with a 3.5 or 4.3 liter engine is a classic car. All Aston-Martins made between 1927 and 1939 are classic cards. If you are looking at Auburn cars for sale and they’re 8 or 12 cylinder, their classic cars. Ballot models 2LS, 2LT, 2LTS, and RH, or RH2 and 3 are classic cars. All Bentley’s made from 1919 on are considered classic cars. Any Benz 10/30, 11/40, 16/50 produced in 1925 and 1926 is a classic. If you’re looking at BMW cars for sale, the models 327, 328, 327/8 and 335 are all classic. All heart-front Brewsters manufactured in 1934, 1935 or 1936 are classic cars.

Turning to American-manufactured classic cars for sale, you’ll find 1931-1942 Buicks of the Limited and 90 Series and many Cadillac models. The latter include all 12’s and 16’s, everything V-63 manufactured in 1923 and later, all Cadillacs produced between 1925 and 1935, many models such as 63, 65, 67, 70, 80, and 90 series that were produced between 1936 and1948, and all Lincoln Continental. If you find any of these cars for sale, you’re about to buy a classic if you snap them up.
