The History of Dodge Darts
A 1956 car show introduced the first Dodge Dart. Built to meet the growing demand for compact cars, the Dodge Dart was touted as the first car in thirty-one years to offer a novel line of low-priced American cars. The car houses an I6 engine, measuring in at 198 cubic inches. This engine creates 125 BHP, or 92 kW.
Alongside the Dodge Dart are its “sibling” models, including the Dodge Demon, the Dodge Sport, the Dart GTS, and the Swinger. Offering popular combinations of small size without compromising on power, the lineup”s GTS was available with either 275 hp or 300 hp, both with V8, and it only weighed 3,000 pounds!
