When you start looking at the many antique cars for sale with the thought of owning one or more keep in mind that if that cars if going to be on the road at all you’re going to need car insurance. Getting car insurance for the various antique cars for sale isn’t as easy as picking up the phone and calling your reliable local insurance agent. First is the issue of determining if the insurance company thinks it is an antique. Just because it’s listed as one of the antique cars for sale by the merchant or auto dealer, it doesn’t mean your insurance company will think so.
There are two basic types of insurance you can choose once you buy one of the antique cars for sale. You can choose insurance for antique automobiles or insurance for classic collector cars. If you buy collector car insurance you can do chores with your antique. The caveat for the latter, however, is that you have another standard vehicle and that you don’t use your antique to get you to and from school or work. If insurance discounts are important to you as you look at antique cars for sale keep in mind that you won’t save the money if the car isn’t a minimum of 30 years old. There are some collector car insurers that will provide reasonable insurance rates for younger cars considered collectibles but they’re harder to find. Don’t be deterred from buying one of the antique cars for sale that you’ve hard your heart set on because of the cost of insurance. You can find savings in a few different ways. Shop around online and buy only what coverage you need.
